Boat Engine & Accessory Summerization, Lake Tahoe
Engine summerization includes making sure the vessel and
all its systems are all operating correctly. If the boat
has been winterized, we will put the drain plugs back in
the engine, hoses back on and we will connect and charge
the batteries. We will run the engine and make sure everything
is ready for the summer. Nothing is worse than getting in
your goat and it won’t start! Also, summerization includes
doing a visual inspection and checking the engine oil, drive
lube or transmission oil, power steering coolant and other
vital fluids. Summerization is the best time to change your
impeller. Every boat has an impeller or sea water pump. This
is a rubber pump that provides suction to pull the lake water
into the engine to cool it. Most engine manufacturers recommend
replacing your impeller every year or every one hundred (100)
hours to prevent failure. If your impeller fails, your engine
will overheat, causing major internal damage to your engine,
even catching fire due to rubber exhaust components exposed
to extreme heat. One of the most common breakdowns of new
and old boats is impeller failure. Change it and be confident
your engine has a good impeller. It’s the best insurance
you can get for your boat. We can also summerize your generator,
water systems, heat and air conditioning systems and anything
else that may need to be summerized. |
